What is an AI clone of a founder, and what should it never do?

An AI clone answers your team's questions in your voice, from facts you approved. A plain explanation of how it works and the rules a trustworthy one must follow.

An AI clone of a founder is software that answers questions the way the founder would, using only what the founder has told it. It is not a general chatbot that knows everything. It knows what you taught it, and nothing else.

What it does

  • You train it by talking to it, a few minutes at a time, one question at a time.
  • It keeps what you said and turns it into facts that you can read.
  • You approve, edit or reject each fact. Only approved facts can be used in answers.
  • Your team asks it questions, and it answers from those approved facts, with the source.

How it is different from a normal chatbot

A general chatbot is built to always produce an answer. That is useful for many things and dangerous for a company: a confident wrong answer about your pricing, your roadmap or a promise to a customer can cost you real money and trust.

A founder clone is built the other way around. When it has no approved fact, the correct output is not an answer. It is a short, honest message that it does not know and that it has asked you.

Five rules a trustworthy clone must follow

  • Answer only from approved facts, and show where each answer came from.
  • Say 'I do not know' instead of guessing, and pass the question to the founder.
  • Always say it is an AI, in text and in audio, and never pretend to be a person.
  • Use your voice only if you have given clear consent, and let you delete it at any time.
  • Keep your data private, let you decide what the team can see, and let you delete everything.

What it should not be used for

A clone is for repeatable knowledge: how your company works, what has been decided, what is planned and what is not. It should not make new decisions for you, handle sensitive people matters, or answer personal and morale messages. Those need a human.

Who it helps

Founders of small teams who find they repeat the same answers every week. Founders who think in one language and work in another and find long explanations tiring. Incubator and accelerator managers who support many founders at once. In each case the point is the same: your knowledge becomes available when you are not.
