Short answer
Guru is a governed company knowledge layer for larger teams, with verified cards, citations and expert review. AskMyStartup is a smaller tool for one founder whose answers are not written down yet: you approve each answer once, and anything else comes back to you.
Everything below about Guru comes from its own site, checked on October 20, 2026. For current terms and plans, read its pricing page. Products change.
Guru in brief
- What it is
- Guru describes itself as the governed knowledge layer for enterprise AI: it structures, governs and keeps improving company knowledge, then delivers cited answers in chat, Slack and other AI tools.
- Who it is for
- Its pricing page calls it an enterprise solution and invites you to book a call with its team. Its home page lists solutions for support, sales and operations teams.
- Cites its sources
- Yes. Its site lists citations on every answer, and shows a cited AI answer inside Slack.
- When it is not sure
- Its site lists identified knowledge gaps and unanswered questions, with a step that routes a question to an expert for review.
- Setup
- Its marketing pages do not list setup steps. The pricing page describes a guided rollout, including integration setup and change management.
Where Guru is strongest
- Verification and expert review built into the knowledge itself.
- Many integrations, and answers delivered inside Slack, the browser and other AI tools.
- Security controls its site names, including SOC 2 Type 2, audit trails and single sign-on.
What a small team should weigh
If your knowledge is not written anywhere yet, a governed knowledge layer has little to govern. A founder with ten recurring questions may need a smaller first step.
When to stay with Guru
Stay with Guru if your company already has documents across many tools, a team to maintain them, and a need for answers inside Slack with enterprise controls.
What AskMyStartup does differently
The founder approves each answer once, with an owner and the date it was confirmed. The team asks on a web page that works on any phone. If there is no approved answer, the clone says it does not know and sends the question to the founder.
It is not for you if you need answers inside Slack, Teams or WhatsApp, or if your answers already sit in documents you want a bot to search.
